Today in our Professional Practice class we had a bunch of practicing ID professionals form the Atlanta area come in and talk. It was more of a “structured Q&A” session. But it was incredibly insightful!
Things I learned today (so far):
- A lot of firms look at their internship program as a way to look for potential employees, but others look at it as “giving back” to the design community.
- Many interviewers know within thirty seconds of the interview whether the guy being interviewed has “the drive”
- networking , obviously, is $$$
- most design firms are “flat” in organizational hierarchy. which is good.
well thats all for now. Class time!
